How much does parasailing cost?

A: The regular price per person is $99.00. Please call ahead for current pricing - we frequently offer daily specials and have coupons.

Do we have to be able to swim?

A: No. Since all takeoffs and landings are done from the back of the boat you don’t even have to get wet. In the extremely unlikely event of boat malfunction, the parasailers slowly drift down to the water wearing a life jacket.

How long is the entire experience?

A: The entire commitment normally takes around an hour and a half. Please incorporate flexibility in your schedule for traffic, parking, check in etc. Each flight is up in the air for 6-8 minutes, and the remainder of the time is spent on the boat for around 45 minutes to an hour depending on the amount of customers on the boat. 

What happens if weather prevents us from parasailing?

A: If the weather prevents us from parasailing, we will gladly refund or reschedule your reservation. Please keep in mind that this is a weather sensitive activity and we are in no control of the weather.

 Will we be alone on the boat?

A. No, all of our boats have a captain and a mate. Additionally, our boats, on average, hold twelve people. This means we can accommodate larger groups. If your group does not fill the boat you should expect to be riding on the boat with others. If you do not wish to ride along with others, you may contact the booth to inquire about renting the entire boat for the hour, at the cost of twelve tickets. We do not tolerate any discrimination or mistreatment of our customers by anyone including our staff or other customers. We encourage everyone to come to their Parasailing Adventure with an open mind and a positive attitude. 

Do I have to get wet?

A: No, you don't have to get wet if you don't want to. Our way of flying is called controlled parasailing, meaning you take off and land smoothly right from the back deck of the boat. If you opt for it, there is a fun wet part towards the end of your flight. The captain slows the boat down and has you gently freefall, dipping your feet in the water for a refreshing splash. He then lands you back safely on the boat deck. 

Is parasailing safe?

A: Yes, extremely safe. Parasailing is an extreme sport and it does carry risks. However, our captains and crews are specially trained to minimize or avoid such risks. We have flown 1000’s of participants, your safety is our number one priority. 

What should I leave behind?

A: We recommend you leave behind anything that is likely to get damaged by contact with water or anything that is very expensive or otherwise difficult to replace. This would include your camera, and your $300 sunglasses. Our office will gladly hold onto your belongings during your adventure. We recommend that you leave your shoes behind. Cellular phones are not allowed on the boat. You will be asked to leave them in the booth before you board.

What if I am pregnant?

A: Our insurance does not allow us to take anyone who is pregnant. 

Can two people fly together?

A: Yes, that's how most of our customers fly. We call that a tandem flight. We can even fly 3 people together.

Are there sharks in the water that might bite me?

A: No one parasailing has ever been attacked by a shark and we at Parasailing Adventures offer our unique guarantee; anyone who gets bitten while parasailing with us gets a FULL refund. 

What happens if the tow line snaps? Will we fly to the moon?

A: To ensure this never happens, we have an exclusive agreement with Mr. Gravity. In the unlikely event the tow line should break, the parasail would gently float down and you would simply land in the water. 

What if I have back, neck or spinal injuries?

A: Unfortunately we do not suggest you parasail.

What should I wear parasailing?

A: Lake George Summer temperatures vary widely. If it's a nice warm summer day, we suggest that you come prepared to fly in your bathing suit. If it's a little cooler, you're welcome to come dressed in regular clothing. We have even flown women in wedding dresses and men in their tuxes.

Are reservations recommended?

A: Yes, due to the popularity of parasailing, and limited space available, we suggest making your reservations 1-3 days in advance. In the summer we are often booked up two days in advance. 

What part of our vacation should we plan parasailing for?

A: We encourage you to plan for parasailing during the first part of your vacation. That way, if the weather does not cooperate you will have other opportunities to fly. Some folks who aren't familiar with Lake George's unpredictable weather have made the mistake of trying to plan for parasailing on the last day of their vacation, only to have Mother Nature rain on their parade. 

How does parasailing work?

A: After getting outfitted with a life vest and harness, you're seated on the flight deck of the boat. Once seated the mate clips your harness to the parachute. The captain then pushes a lever and up you go real nice and smooth, just like sitting on a swing that slowly lifts you up for the experience of a lifetime. And yes, all take offs and landings are done from the boat. You can see the take off and landing on our Videos page.

Do I need prior experience?

A: Prior experience is not necessary. The captain and mate do ALL the work for you. You just have to come prepared to have a good time and to listen to instructions.

Is parasailing scary?

A: Actually, it's quite the opposite. Parasailing is very serene and peaceful. Because the take offs and landings are slow and gradual, you don't have to worry about being scared. If you’re looking for something scary, parasailing isn’t what you want to do.

How old do I need to be to fly?

A: Parasailers must be at least 5-years-old to parasail and require somebody who is at least 13 to participate with them. Guests younger than 18-years-old must have an adult sign for them.. We routinely fly guests in their 90’s

Is there a weight restriction?

A: To fly alone you must weigh at least 125 lbs. For multi-passenger flights the weight limit is 600 lbs, or it will be up to the captain to determine. This all can vary according to weather conditions.

Can a minor go up by themselves?

A: Yes, if the minor weighs at least 125 lbs. and is at least 13 years old, but an adult needs to be present to check in anyone under 18 years of age. If the minor weighs under 125 lbs. then they will have to fly with someone else to make up for the weight. Again, this can vary according to weather conditions.

What if I want to do something special with my family and friends for a birthday, anniversary, or wedding party or just want the boat all to ourselves?

A: There are some folks who like the idea of a private charter so they can parasail for as long as they want or make their outing more intimate. We aim to please and would love the opportunity to give your group that one-on-one attention. Just contact us if you're interested in having our parasail vessel all to yourselves.

Do you belong to a Parasailing Association?

A: Parasailing Adventures is a proud member of WSIA (Water Sports Industry Association), and PAPO (Professional Association of Parasail Operators). Members of WSIA and PAPO must adhere to strict operating guidelines and annual inspections. To have legitimate parasailing insurance in the United States you must be a member of PAPO.
